Truly, God’s way isn’t like ours, and this is fundamental in our spirituality. Joseph, gifted with the ability to interpret dreams, can be one of us in this world. However, our dependency on God is still the language of our being human, inferior to God’s supremacy over us. Joseph’s openness to the wounds of his past ultimately brought reconciliation and unity.

Joseph is expecting this to be a “happily ever after” story. Instead, we get a fantastically clever setup and plot movement into the next part of the account. What a great book. I love it.
