Good thoughts as usual. For me, I think Jesus’ teaching in John 15 helps here. “Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. (John 15:4-5). So, in truth I can do nothing, but our loving Father can do things and will do things through me and wants to do things through me. This is why the first and greatest commandment is simply that we love God. So I don’t aspire to be better or do better, I ask my Father to overcome my failings and do his work through me anyway.
