Though we have featured quotes from Martin Luther (1483-1546) a few times on Managing Monday, on this the eve of the 500th anniversary of Luther posting his 95 theses on the church door in Wittenberg on 31 October 1517, it only seems right to hear from him again. Here are some Luther quotes we have not yet considered…
- I have no use for cranks who despise music, because it is a gift of God. Next after theology, I give to music the highest place and the greatest honour. Martin Luther
- If our Lord is permitted to create nice large pike and good Rhine wine, presumably I may be allowed to eat and drink. Martin Luther
- Oh, if only I could pray the way this dog watches the meat! All his thoughts are concentrated on the piece of meat. Otherwise he has no thought, wish, or hope. Martin Luther
- If I rest, I rust. Martin Luther
- Nothing is easier than sinning. Martin Luther
- Faith is the “yes” of the heart, a conviction on which one stakes one’s life. Martin Luther
- Farewell to those who want an entirely purified church. This is plainly wanting no church at all. Martin Luther
As always, nice chatting…
Very timely Brian! Our church has just begun a series on the reformation.
Should be a good series. Nice to hear from you Desley.
