Managing Monday: Quotes for the start of a new year…

Posted by on Jan 2, 2017 in Blog | 4 comments

As we start a new year, here are some wise insights to reflect upon…

  • Do something today that your future self will thank you for – Anon
  • Speak in such a way that others love to listen to you. Listen in such a way that others love to speak to you – Anon
  • The secret of change is to focus all of your energy, not on fighting the old, but on building the new – Socrates
  • And I said to the man who stood at the gate of the year: “Give me a light that I may tread safely into the unknown.” And he replied: “Go out into the darkness and put your hand into the hand of God. That shall be to you better than light, and safer than a known way.” – Minnie Louise Haskins

Got to admit, the Haskins poem (quoted by King George VI in his 1939 Christmas Message) is a personal favourite. All the best as you go out into the future, quietly but confidently putting your hand into the hand of God.

As always, nice chatting…

  1. Thanks for that Brian. Some of the above I am guilty of ignoring over the past 18 months. I am now feeling able to move on a little better. As one of my Christian friends in America said when I poured out my heart to her “God doesn’t blame you”. I look forward to a more settled time in 2017.

  2. Many thanks, Brian for your faithful writing. It is a challenge and a blessing to me. A very blessed new year to you.

    • Thanks Phillip. Hope 2017 is a very good year for you… Are you still based in Jakarta?
